day and night

I love outfits that can go from day and night...effortlessly.  Maxi dresses are simply one of those clothing.

Club monaco - open back maxi dress
Christian Louboutin - Simple Pump 85 Patent Calp (nude)

I bought this maxi dress from Club Monaco last summer and I've been wearing it through all the seasons! In the fall, spring, summer when the weather is a little colder, I pair it with a simple cardigan or short sweater to keep me warm - also a perfect day or night look (depending on the occasion)

For my look, I added a blue top for the day look and for the night look, simply took off the top and of course with my Louboutin's! (in love the nude simple pumps)

Easy isn't it?

Summer's Best Player

Downtown LA -  (day look) Forever 21, Chanel Purse, Toms, and my Coco Baby

What is your favorite piece of clothing to wear day and night in the summer? Is it your maxi dress, jean shorties, or perhaps it's your floral one piece dress. These are some the easiest piece of clothing that is versatile enough to quickly go from day to night.  My personal favorite is the romper. Why? because I think rompers comes in the most variety selection of style to choose from. Whether it's the color, the length, or the pattern - it's still edgy but refined!  For my day- look,  I would pair my romper with comfortable shoes and simple accessories.  For night - look, I'll put on my heels, decide whether  or not to keep the accessories, and finally a jacket, in case.

Make sure you tune-in for my night-look transformation!

Barely There...

The weather is getting warmer..and less is more.  especially on your face.  The must - have summer makeup product is BB cream.  It's been the most popular/ must have product in Asia for quite some time; but it has finally broken ground in North America!

During this winter, my skin had a horrible reaction to something I used and I broke out (even more than I experienced in middle school).  My skin is a lot calmer now, occasionally breakouts but isn't too bad.
I try to stay away from long - lasting wear foundation and on days where I'm home or just running errands, BB cream is the only base product I use.

Currently I'm using Alex Herbal BB Cream - it's for people who have some skin blemishes, sensitive skin, or chemically stressed skin.  It just works so perfectly with my skin type. It gives me enough coverage and helps create a very clean look.

Herbal BB Cream ($50 - 80 USD)
There are many different types of BB creams, ranging from drugstore picks to skin care types! Whatever you choose, it might just be the only thing you wear....

It's off the shoulder!

FIRST and foremost I must say HAPPY CANADA DAY! even though I live in Japan my home will always be in beautiful British Columbia, Canada!

now back to the post...
Recently I have been loving OFF the shoulder KNITs and MESH sweaters! Depending on how it is knit/meshed, you can see it in stores all year long!          It's wonderful.

In my opinion, they're a girls secret weapon! Its usually meant to be worn loose so it hides any bloating etc. incredibly figure flattering!

Most can be worn off the shoulder so it's sexy but tasteful. It isn't see through but lets you see your sillouette. I think I own so many in a million colors.

I like is a loose pastel colored mesh sweater with some short shorts!
Cute? I'd say yes!

I recently bought a lace knit sweater from O.Z.O.C  that I thought was super interesting because it can be worn two ways!

have the buttons in the back

or

wear it as a cardigan!

I wanted to take a picture of myself wearing it...since I think I do a better job than this model (a line I can't believe I am saying)

I was afraid it might look too grandma but the cream pink looks adorable with my white shorts! ahhhh summer colors! you gotta love it!

what is your fav mesh/knit sweater!!?!

Summer Hair

My hair is finally long enough! I've been doing the fishbone braids for the last couple of days now.  It's just way to hot in LA to not tie my hair. The easiest and simplest way is letting the braid come straight now.  But I wanted to try something different and while looking for inspiration, I found a pictures of  Blake Lively at the Savages premier with her hair  done in fishbone braids

Blake Lively at the Savages premier (courtesy of the Superficial photos)
What she's done is simply tying her hair in a ponytail then fishbone braiding the rest.  The look is so simple and flawless - and she looks stunning!

Though my hair isn't as long as hers, here's my take on it!

Higher ponytail - shorter braids

You also have the option of making the fishbone braids very loose or very tight - whatever your preference may be

What's your favorite hairstyle for the summer?
Please leave comments! We would love to hear from
you!

Printed.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great week so far! Today I did some shopping with my sister before heading to class.  Soon enough, I realized half of the things I bought were printed.  I personally think prints are more fun to wear in the summer just because you have the ability to choose so many different styles for the warm weather! On the other hand, prints can be a dangerous thing to play with..because it look too tacky or too wild.

My favorite prints that's catching my eye today were pythons, zebras, and polkadots

{Top} BCBG shorts
{Bottom Left to Right} Bailey 44 and Forever 21

Prints also have the illusion of making you look slimmer and curver (at the same time)! And most importantly, you can have fun with it!

What's your favorite print

summer exposure = back exposure!

When the heat's blazing down on you, other than an iced cup of (input choice of drink) an open back shirt would be the next best thing to cool you down.
It is also an elegant way to show off some sexiness throughout the summer!!!

Here are some random back exposed shirts that I found on people out on the town. Sorry but I don't particularly know where they are from!!!

and here is what I purchased at forever 21 Japan.
I thought it was tasteful and just enough back exposure xoxo

What kind of back exposure do you like??

Pre-fall....already?!

Though Summer only officially started a week ago,  there are blow-out sales everywhere to make way for the pre-fall styles. Places like Saks, Neiman, Barneys, and Shopbop,  are having up to 40% sale!   So what is in store for the pre-fall? Well the one thing that keeps on coming back year after year are booties!  What I adore about booties are it goes with almost every causal outfit you have.  Whether it's your favorite jeans or skirt it gives the entire outfit an edgy but still classy overall look.

My personal favorite is Rag_Bone Classic Newbury Booties (below).  It comes in at least 3 different styles (leather, fabric, stripped)

Rag_Bone Classic Newbury Booties

Another favorite of mine is Prada's Peep Toe Suede Bootie.

Prada

I tried this pair last month at Nordstorm and it was absolutely beautifullyThe height was just right and the brightness of the navy wasn't too overwhelming.  If I was still living in Vancouver, buying a suede shoe would totally be a nightmare - but now that I'm back in LA, that wouldn't be a problem!

Have you gotten your booties yet?

#3 - super shortie

Summer is officially here.  Summer  = sun, beach, sandals, maxi dresses, and of course shorts.  Shorts are an essential item to any fashionista's wardrobe. My favorite shorts for the summer  would have to be the ragged shorts.   These shorts are created with cut-off hem bottoms with a hint of a distressed/vintaged look.

Top left to right - Rag + Bone, Citizens of Humanity, Zara
Bottom left to right -  Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters (BDG)

The splurge looks (out of the 6 shown above) would have to the Rag + Bone Moss Mila Cut-off shorts and Citizens of Humanity Manic Cheeky shorts both estimated retail price at $160(USD).

The steal look of the two would have to be BDG super shorties ($45USD) from Urban Outfitters, which is also my favorite!!

BDG Super Shorties - Urban Outfitters
Super comfortable, rips -  not overdone, easy-boyish swag

What is your go-to outfit for the summer?

coral coral coral

Summer is just around the corner, which means it's time to get bold with our colors! My favorite color for this summer would have to be coral! I particularly prefer this color because it looks good whether it's a top, a pair of pants, or even on your eyes. On my last trip to Japan, I was able to retrieve a Maybelline 5 color palette and I absolutely fall in love. I use it for day and evening because of the subtle, yet sexy mixture of colors and because of its individual bold colors, I can wear the colors on its own or mix it up.

Day wear (underlining with shadow)

Top: Maybelline 5 color palette
Botton: Swatch of different colors

I'm not sure if I've seen these particular colors in LA or VAN but I'll definitely check and keep you posted on where to snatch on up yourselves!

Now that you know my favorite color for the summer, what's yours??
